Welcome all to another year of baseball. As Umpire-In-Chief, I, Brad Woof, again personally look forward to working with all of North Delta’s umpires,
particularly improving our newer umpires and moving our more experienced umpires thru the levels. In that regard, the NDBA UDP continues to be part of the British Columbia Baseball Umpires Association (BCBUA).
In addition, we are maintaining the adjusted minimum age for umpiring, 10 years of age, and will offer the same clinic structure as last year for Level 1 and 2, with continued emphasis in on field development,
and practical application of the rules and procedures in an on field setting. Furthermore, the Super Clinic is available for advanced umpires, those
16 years of age or more, who have been a Level 2 for at least 2 years; those eligible may apply to the NDBA UDP for sponsorship, to attend the
Super Clinic, which is a 2-day course, and obtain their Level 3 designation (see Clinic Dates 2009 distribution for more information).
Continuing to increase the benefits to our umpires, other changes include; further revamping the NDBA Rules, particularly the Umpire Regulations this includes Dress Code (see Dress Code 2009 distribution for more information), and once again adjusting the Umpire Pay Scale for game fees, no-shows, lates, and one man umpiring/less then the required number of umpires at a game (see Pay Scale 2009 distribution for more information). These amendments should make for a great season, so whether you are a new umpire or a returning umpire, have a great 2009.

Yours truly,
